How to choose a yacht model
Start with the crew. A cabin per couple plus one for a skipper or luggage is the comfortable rule: a 40-foot sailing yacht with three cabins suits four to six people, a 45-foot catamaran with four cabins takes eight without anyone sleeping in the saloon. The berth count on a listing includes saloon berths, so compare cabins, not berths.
Then the type. A monohull sails better upwind and costs less per week; a catamaran offers twice the deck space, a level platform at anchor and shallow draft for the bays, at a higher weekly price and higher marina fees. Motor yachts cover more miles a day and add fuel to the budget; gulets and crewed boats turn the week into a hosted holiday.
Look at the build year and the generation of the model. A model name covers boats built over a decade or more, and the owners' versions of a design often have larger heads, better ventilation and modern electronics. A three-year-old boat of a proven model is usually the best value: newer than most charter boats, cheaper than the latest generation.
Finally, check where the model is based. Each model page lists every boat with its home marina, build year and a typical weekly price, so a Lagoon 42 in Split and one in Athens can be compared directly. If two models are close, the itineraries and the country price guides help settle the question by sailing area and month.
What the model pages show. Every model page gathers the boats of that model in one place: how many are for charter, their bases by country, the build years, the cabin and berth layouts, and the typical weekly price with its range, all computed from the live listings. A short FAQ answers the questions guests ask most about the model. Use the brand hubs above to move between the models of one builder, and the fleet directory when you would rather browse every boat than a model.
